The Social Security folks get a gold star on their verbage:
“The identity document must be of recent issuance so that we can determine your continued existence.”
Yes I exist as I am typing this but by the time you read this how can you be sure of my continued existance? For that matter, does the food in the fridge still exist while the door is closed? (ok so who cares on that last one… so long as it is there when I open the door ;))
