Of Snails… April 25, 2004
Posted by Aaron in : Play , trackbackSo JC & I were discussing our snails a few days ago (I know, we’ve got exciting lives). We’ve both got golden mystery snails, mine named Houdini & she’s got two, Morpheus & Gollum. Apparently morpheus was a convict in a past life because he’s always trying to tunnel out through the gravel. JC says she came home from work one day and found him completely below the gravel, almost to the bottom. Both of hers are fairly tame though when it comes to where you find them, between the glass, plants & gravel, hers hang out on the gravel, glass & plants in that order. Houdini is adventurous & mostly stays on the glass, with gravel being a quick way to get between sides, and the plants when he jumps off the glass & lands on them. I never see houdini climb *down* the glass, he is always headed up or across it. When he wants to go down he just lets go, just last night he did this and landed on Tim (my plechastomous). Tim seemed rather startled, but didn’t move for a bit (until I suspect houdini started to grab ahold of things to right himself), then tim just vanished to darker parts of the tank. Guess thats the news from “days of our fishtanks”, where the neons are nervious, the shrimp clear, and the snails just above average.
