Well nathan & I helped the JC’s move into their new house yesterday. Turns out everyone decided to show up earlier than we’d heard so by the time we made it over there were only 2 fishtanks to move. Oh well we helped move a washer & vanquished one bush & brutally maulled another. Now they are off to mammoth caves so I’ll have to find something else to do during the day besides annoy JC (For the record I also work during that time)

Don’t need mocha…. May 26, 2004

Yesterday while we were hard at work Bob (our boss) wandered through our midst with a mocha. As he ducked into his office, he called out behind him “I bet you all wish you had a mocha too!” It being one of those days, I quickly siezed the statement and mustering as much intensity (and a bit more volume than normal as well) as I could at the drop of a hat fired back with “I don’t need your mocha, I’ve got Jesus!” Of course bob didn’t hear what I said, but the combined laughter of everyone else in the office (did I mention we’ve got a couple extra people around for the summer?) got him to come back out & find out what had happened. It was awesome, even if my retelling of it isn’t.

BA 1.2 May 21, 2004

So yesterday after consulting with the client regarding a couple bugs, I started working on the second update for Bid-Advantage. Thats right folks, not even a full week has passed since BA 1.1 was mailed out and in 3 hrs I started & finished BA 1.2, it is still pending final approval but I don’t expect to spend much more than another hour on it before its ready to go out as well. And here we come to the worst part of my job… the better I am, the less I get paid. Man it stinks to be hourly. Can I get a bonus for having been given 5 critical bugs at 2pm and having the update ready to download before supper?

Deep thot re-post May 11, 2004

Recent server problems wiped out the last few posts, this one I thought worth reposting…
Originally posted: … um a couple weeks ago?

I was recently asked the question “What does being a Christian mean to you?” I’d had a sort of scattered collection of thoughts on the matter, but they condensed to the following answer, agree or disagree as you will.

“Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.” - Princess Bride

When I was younger I didn’t really pay any special attention to this line, just another line that wasn’t particularly funny in a movie I enjoyed. But time passed, and I began to appreciate the depth of the truth that had been slipped into an otherwise light-hearted movie (which I still like incidentally). Life isn’t easy; more often than not I’ve found myself running into all manner of obstacles that cause pain, physical or emotional. Worse still I’ve been the cause of others pain. But all this merely sets the framework for what Christianity is to me.

DC Talk says it quite nicely, “There is hope for the hopeless, Peace and forgiveness, There is life in the red letters” If I were limited to one word I guess I would fall back on hope (and then try to sneak in a few other words). Even the darkest storm cannot last forever, be it 40 minutes or 40 days, the sun will shine again. That’s not to suggest that I may not have to do some work to stay afloat until then, but God can even help with that. I guess that’s pretty much it, to me being a Christian means having the hope to carry on.

Anyone care to toss in their thoughts?
