Compaq! May 13, 2005
Posted by Aaron in : Work , trackbackSo I’m on hold with compaq sales (aka hp) right now, and I’ve got to say, way to go compaq. I’d always shrugged when people asked me about the quality of your systems but you’ve changed my mind today….
I hate you so much right now.
No matter what your feelings on the grand fears of outsourcing, be it just a product of fear-mongering media or the greatest threat to america’s commercial presence in the world. Its easy for me to just tune out all the noise about it, after all my job has never been outsourced (well outside the US that is, but thats another story and isn’t technically outsourcing). When I talk to phone reps that are obviously not from the US I’m not rude, even when its obvious they are doing nothing more than following a script. To be honest I wish them well, the idea of “I’m just trying to do my job & pay the bills” is not a foreign concept to me. However I’ve talked to 2 different people today who I could bairly understand. Now its not fair to blame them for that (one doesn’t expect the entire world to speak “american”), I’m not even entirely sure that I can blame Compaq unless I’m outright opposed to outsourcing, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. So yes, if you ask me about compaq (and by proximity) HP desktops, I’m going to have to say that I’ve not always enjoyed my calls to their various departments.
Half-hearted rant done, back to work. Hopefully jax will finish his post sometime (no I haven’t cheated & read it already).

I hope he finishes soon too. I am running out of good stuff to read. The Droolboards can only keep me entertained for so long.
Do we see the irony in your rant and the fact that the ads for this page are Compaq?
Yes we can. Not surprising at all really. Though I’m seeing a bunch of ads about outsourcing. Really I don’t expect anyone to click any of them, but they do entertain me.
