Important People September 24, 2005

Apparently I’m among the important people in the United States. I just got a letter from the U.S. Department of Commerce / U.S. Census Bureau on official business (a $300 penalty for private use). The letter told me that in a few days I will receive a survey about those living in my household (all one of us). The survey desires ‘to more effectively measure the changing needs of communities across the country.’ Well perhaps the survey doesn’t do the desiring, but provides the means by which the US Census Bureau may do thusly. I’m afraid that their picking my average household for the survey may not do quite what they want; and yet perhaps it will, if Springfield is becoming a community of middle-20’s young adults. Somehow, however, I seem to believe that this is not the case. But I shall have fun filling in the little bubbles or whatever other means the survey uses to gather its information. I guess I’ll have to tell them ‘how it really is’.
