So he sat behind his natural defenses
And there he wrestled with the song
He heard his name in every line, his life in every measure
Faced with feelings he could not explain
There was hunger in his hollow hesitation
There was posturing for peace
But even where the spirit willed
The flesh was still maintaining
Ground to give only for a sign
And the call came out again
Take this bread, drink this cup
Know this price has pardoned you
From all that’s hardened you
But it’s going to take some trust
He lost a heartbeat when he heard the testimony
Another soul forsaking pride
And quickened by the Spirit
He’s so sure that he could hear it
Jesus his Savior calling him to come
Come every soul by sin oppressed
There’s mercy with the Lord
And He will surely give you rest
By trusting in His word
This song came on while I was playing a game I only play to lose. Cryptic statement, I know, but the shorter explanation would only carry one of the several meanings that are a better summary.

Posted by Aaron in : Play , add a commentI decided that tonight was the night to try out my new fireplace. In fact I wandered over to the library to find a book suitable for lounging in front of a fire with. Turns out that this town’s library closes at 6pm 3 nights a week, and earlier two more days a week. I could be wrong but I think thats worse than the Greenville library had during the summer *sigh*.
I failed to find a book but I was not deterred, instead I turned on the tv for a couple hours of shows. And reclined in my tighty whiteys on the couch, with the fleece covering my pasty white legs.
I can only assume if you are still reading this post then its because somehow you couldn’t find the will or the handy item to try to poke that mental image out of your head. Well don’t worry, thats the worst of it. The rest of the evening I’ve been enjoying being able to crank my music higher than I could before and write code.

I’m writing this from my happy 2mbps synchronous inet connection at the house. I’ve no desk but as I’m sitting cross legged on the floor typing as the tivo updates to a new cable network (before going to bed I’m moving it to the living room where the tv actually is). This last week was best summed up as road trip after road trip. The move went quite well, and the rest of the road trips included driving to visit jax in McPherson, grandparents in central Missouri, and Christin house comrades in Greenville (who were there for homecoming festivities). I ran a 5k with no real training and a cold so I still kinda hurt. But anyway I ought to be signing out, first day at the new job is tomorrow and this position is really awkward to type in (I’d take a picture, but well, I’m not wearing any pants and we may have small children/women in the audience, sufficient to say its not helping my back, my wrists or my ankles)
The Cowby Jamboree Revisited October 17, 2006
Posted by Jax in : General , add a commentPreviously on Stupid Jackson…I was focused on destroying the runners around me. As I ran it became more and more difficult to breath. My legs felt like lead. I knew that my strength was quickly escaping me. Fighting to hold on I ran in spurts. One minute I would begin to lose hope and the next I forced myself to press on. Everytime I came to a hill I charged up it refusing to let anyone pass me. But as kilometer after kilometer went by people breezed past me. The 4 mile marker came to my dazed vision and I knew it was time to kick it into gear. Exerting every bit of strength I had in me my legs churned against the tidal waves of exhaustion. The sound of fans cheering came to me with amazing clarity, but everything else seemed to be dulled. I knew that Kenta was coming up behind me. Normally, he would be a good four or five minutes back, but here he was. Up and down the hills, around the turns we went. As we came to the last 800 meters he was right beside me. Refusing to be beat by this little man I charged forward. The last 400 meters I felt myself pulling away. And then it happened: I began to hurl. In that quarter of a mile I spewed breakfast, lunch, and dinner all over me, but I crossed the finish line. I walked in a daze responding to people’s comments but not really knowing what was being said. Slowly I walked back to our camp and sat down. The next thing I remember I was lying on my face with no recollection of how long I had been there. My teammates informed me that they had been poking me and I hadn’t moved. Coach Minnich came up to me and told me that I was white faced so I got up and walked around. Eventually, I felt better. Since that race I have run two more. At Salina I dropped out because the course was playing havoc with my ankle and I was in a pissy mood. At Winfield I ran a 32:30 and I honestly felt like I could have run another race. So, I had pretty high hopes of my next race being considerable faster. Unfortunately, when I was running last night as per coach’s instructions I sprained my other ankle, so it seems fair to say that my season is over. But hopefully nothing more will happen over the next year so I can run all the half marathons and the marathon that I have scheduled. Until next time, bycha

Posted by Aaron in : Life, Play , add a commentTomorrow is the big move, most of the stuff is loaded into the uhaul (which has proven to be many times larger than is needed despite only being the 2nd size truck; 1-2 bedrooms). Suppose to leave by 9am, arriving there around 8ish. We shall see, but I suspect no one will see me till after the weekend of the 21st. After then shall the great road trip-o-road race be completed. And there shalt be applebees all around.

Posted by Aaron in : General , comments closedWell sports fans, df is jumping hosting services again, bowing to the whims of dan. I’m kicking around getting my own hosting (finally) for other purposes besides just to avoid dan’s whims (still a happy bonus ;)). If service in your area is sporadic, please do not adjust your television set but be patient and wait, for the good gourd bringeth and the good gourd bloggeth away. And no, not even I know what I just said.
May I have 4 days put on the clock? Thank you, when time expires I’m hoping to be in or close to Sallisaw Oklahoma (where my latest move is taking me). It’ll be without Squeaker for now, but mom’s coming to help drive the uhaul (apparently she just wanted an excuse to visit jax at central, and this got her closer hehe).

Running in the Cowboy Jamboree October 1, 2006
Posted by Jax in : General , 1 comment so farHey, everybody. It’s been a while since I have posted. Anyway, I figured I would tell you of a new experience I had yesterday.
Saturday, we ran at Stillwater, OK in the Cowboy Jamboree. Two weeks ago I sprained my ankle and I just started training the middle of last week. I had not planned on running in the meet but coach told me I needed to try and see what happened. He said and I quote, “I want you to run, but don’t be competitive. Feel free to be last.” Does he realize who he was talking to? Races are meant to be competitive!
So, I wrapped my ankle to the point where I couldn’t feel it. The race started and I took off. I started at the back thinking that I would run slow but I couldn’t. When you’re in the moment there is nothing to do but go with it. I crossed the 1 mile mark at 5:45. And then it hit me, I haven’t been training. This is stupid. Nevertheless, I continued on my bent to destroy the runners around me. To be continued, I’m being kicked off the computer.
