I’ll apologize for the abruptness of this post now, I’m to tired to draw things out in a kinder way. I just got back from the hospital. Chris and Mandie’s newborn daughter (Kinsie I believe) started to have problems early this afternoon. Apparently they flew in a team from a children’s hospital in Little Rock to try some procedure but couldn’t get her stabilized enough to do so. She died shortly before 7pm. Plenty of family and friends have been in and out for the evening but all involved could use some prayer for quite a while I suspect. On my rush to get over there without having an accident in the torrential rains that suddenly sprang up this afternoon, I had a verse from a song stuck in my head…

I am not skilled to understand,
What God has willed, what God has planned,
I only know at his right hand

Sunday evening I made made a rather useful leap of logic that I thought I’d share. If only because its a safe bet you might need a laugh. I was running late for a church thing, and had a matter of minutes to find, cook and eat something. Simplest answer was “nuke 2 corn dogs” which I did, but then realized I’m out of time and need to head to the church (I walk because its too close to be worth driving). But then I realized, if I run over on foot, one of the corn dogs will get cold before I get there and that would be sad. Taking a moment to problem solve I realized something… a corn dog is roughly the same size as a cellphone. And my new jacket has an inner pocket for cellphones. So one corn dog tucked in its wrapper which was tucked into my jacket, I jogged across the landscape, enjoying two toasty corn dogs along the way. A handy fringe benefit was that while I was keeping it warm, it also warmed up the inside of my jacket.  A lesson I’ll keep in mind next time I want to pre-heat my coat for another cross-town arctic adventure.
