Buying in bulk October 31, 2007

DF Strikes Back March 15, 2007
Posted by Aaron in : News , add a commentAfter a while of downtime, the Fiefdom has returned to the digital world. As some might have guessed, my attempt to move to my own hosting account bombed miserably due to exponential tech support snafus. Sufficient to say, I won’t be using Dreamhost, and instead DF has come to rest on servers in the office (where we are a good fire suppression system away from being a co-lo facility).
In other news, Dan has discovered his website is blocked in china. My site isn’t but is blocked by SonicWall’s built in content filter, which means that Chinese dissidents can read my site, but not students in the Tremont school district.
Downtime March 1, 2007
Posted by Aaron in : News , add a commentDF is moving within the next couple days to a new account. Thats right, after some 3 years of mooching off dan in one form or another, I finally decided to get my own hosting account. Tinkering time!
Live free or… February 12, 2007
Posted by Aaron in : News, Play , add a commentThere are several ways you can end the title of this post, however none is as strange as how Bruce Willis’s new movie chooses to end it. Live Free or Die Hard. Now I can see what they were going for, but I don’t think it quite works. Because when I read this title I ask myself, is Bruce Willis’s signature franchise actually threatening my freedom? I have to say I’m perplexed by this, why does Bruce Willis want to take my freedom away from me? Is his attempt to take my freedom half as absurd as the trailer suggests? And of course, does a terrorist really get his or her wings every time someone watches this movie? I’d continue to ponder this but I sense a renegade cop coming my way, and I’d like to finish watching this movie before he gets here. All you readers scattered across the country need to move to oklahoma so I have peeps to watch my movies with (technically I suppose I could take the peeps out of the fridge to watch the movie but their beady eyes make me more concerned for my freedom then any big boom movie title).

First post! October 23, 2006
Posted by Aaron in : General, News , add a commentHuzza for new houses! and for finally having pictures from Venezuela (I haven’t even stuck the cd in my computer yet, so I’ll let you know when they are uploaded). I’m writing this from my happy 2mbps synchronous inet connection at the house. I’ve no desk but as I’m sitting cross legged on the floor typing as the tivo updates to a new cable network (before going to bed I’m moving it to the living room where the tv actually is). This last week was best summed up as road trip after road trip. The move went quite well, and the rest of the road trips included driving to visit jax in McPherson, grandparents in central Missouri, and Christin house comrades in Greenville (who were there for homecoming festivities). I ran a 5k with no real training and a cold so I still kinda hurt. But anyway I ought to be signing out, first day at the new job is tomorrow and this position is really awkward to type in (I’d take a picture, but well, I’m not wearing any pants and we may have small children/women in the audience, sufficient to say its not helping my back, my wrists or my ankles)

Apparently a rarity has occured in world events… a peacefull military coup. Acting on the will of the people, the military siezed control of the government while (of all things) their current apparently widely disliked prime minister was in New York about to address the UN (how embarrasing). At a press conference one of the generals involved said the military would be out in two weeks and that elections for a long term replacement ot the PM would occure next year at the regular time. The yellow ribbon by the way indicates support for the king, the flowers.
The Latest and Greatest in the Free-Sex Movement and Other News August 24, 2006
Posted by NL in : News, This should not be happening , 2commentsAt work today I heard on the news that Plan B has been approved for over-the-counter sell to non-minors. This is great news for those of you in the Free-Sex Movement (if there is such a thing); in fact it is great news for anyone who thinks kids are a waste of time and money… or that the world population is getting out of control (though much of Europe and China are experiencing quite the opposite). With this new reason about which to have nothing to worry concerning sex — that is concerning with my responsibility to fathering any children that should result of said ‘relationship’ — I now have free reign to, well, ‘love’ any girl that should also mutually want to ‘love’. Since until now I had no other significant plans for this evening, tonight I will go see if I can find two or three women with whom to spend some good, quality, ‘romantic’ time. Particularly now that there is no need to worry about with whom I should do the deed, thanks to the evolutionary world view I was taught in school, “Let’s just love each other, Baby!” And, thankfully, the baby will not be crying out to us in nine months.
I love doing this sort of satirical work. Honestly, this seems that it might go hand-in-hand with other news about which I heard today — safe embryonic stem cell research. These embryos only have 8-10 cells, they don’t have many cells to give up. Now I’m not in the research, but why can’t they use stem cells to create more stem cells? And secondly what’s so great about embryonic stem cells? — do adult stem cells not produce the same results? Adult stem cells occur in the umbilical cord… those people dying to do stem cell research should open delivery rooms in the front of their buildings and harvest the umbilical cords. Adult stem cells occur in our fatty tissue… — this one is great — those people dying to do stem cell research should start giving away free lyposuctions! It’d make a great commercial: “Fat? Overweight? Want to loose some pounds? Those diets not working for you? That burn-more-fat pill not doing it? Well, we have the solution for you. We can help you take off those pounds and you can help further medical research, save countless lives and support stem cell research in the process! Stop suing McDonalds because it makes you fat! In fact eat at McDonald’s and Burger King for every meal. We’re giving out free lyposuctions — you heard us correctly folks — free lyposuctions to the first 100+ million people who call us now at 1-800-555-LTWN [Loose The Weight Now]. But you have to call within the next fifty millennia. That’s right we’re not restricting this offer to the next twenty minutes, we’re extending it to the next fifty millennia. Call us now at 1-800-555-LTWN, that’s 1-800-555-5896, 1-800-555-LTWN. [Then speaks the guy who can a hundred sentences in the time you can say one...] This offer is good only for those people who clinically have more than 3% body fat because having less is just not healthy at all, for those who are mal-nourished or for those who live underwater. You must call within the next 50 millennia to schedule your appointment. Patients are reminded that lyposuction is required so there are no pills or diets involved. We encourage patients to continue eating in such ways that they could return for a second or third or more-th visit since the constant supply of stem cells is required for the research.”
Road trip update and other breaking news June 15, 2006
Posted by Aaron in : Life, News , 1 comment so farOk I’ll get to the roadtrip but first, Bill Gates is leaving Microsoft! It isn’t until 2008, but its still a huge announcement (very sparse details here, expect later speculation to rivel that of what google gets on an average day).
Interview went well and I had a fun time hanging out with Jason and Nicole, even if their cat wasn’t exactly as happy to have company. There was some other stuff I was going to mention about the drive home but I’m hungry and it has shoved such other trifles out of the way.
Oh and late lunch today consists of Ski (its like mountain dew but more citricy) and honey nut cheros (not mixed incidentally, there is milk on the cerial). Just thought you’d be interested, sorry if you are trying to eat if you read this.
Solitare hates me May 29, 2006
Posted by Aaron in : News , 3commentsYou know I once made a personal rule to the effect of how I wouldn’t post when brain functions are impaired (either by lack of sleep, being sick, or mental exhaustion). I bet you folks are glad that I never listen to myself. So lets see where my woozy brain wanders too. I’m still waiting on venezuela pictures from bob and deloy, which makes me think I need to hound them about it. And Solitare hates me. Its true, I just played 12 games in a row and only won on the last one. One could argue that sickness has rendered my solitaring skillz impotent, but thats ludicrous and I’ll be forced to shoot a stern glance at anyone who suggests it. Of course right now the 3D rendering systems of my computer hate me, so I can’t play anything involving 3D because it causes my system to lock up after a bit. I’d reinstall windows but I’m too lazy too (which is why I’m playing solitaire, and I bet you thought my thoughts were wandering at random). Michael and Sam are leaving for their new home in Peoria soon. A shame really, less people for me to pester. The reactions my previous post about online dating so far seem to be tied between those who are surprised that EHarmony rejects people, and those who are shocked at the idea that I’m not be entirely a stranger to dating sites. *shrugs* Good to know I’m not becoming too predictable in my “old age”. Speaking of old age, my brother’s birthdays are coming up in a week or so, hopefully I remember to call when the dates actually arrive. Oh and it seems I have been designated kitty feeder while dan and julie are out of town. I have UHF and Sneakers on my tivo right now, two great movies though for entirely different reasons (you’ve probably never heard of Sneakers, imagine a hacker movie that you wouldn’t feel sheepish being caught at the theaters watching by more technical friends). Well maybe I’ll go watch something stashed on my Tivo. Remember to keep your stick on the ice and never let them see you doodle in the margins.
